DSAGA Logo Main

The Diverse Sexuality And Gender Alliance, or DSAGA, is the LGBT student organization on the Homewood Campus of the Johns Hopkins University. It serves the student body, faculty, and staff in a variety of capacities, including education, counseling, and social opportunities.

DSAGA was in desperate need of a revamped logo, so they opened it to the group as a logo contest.  My design was the winner.

The logo you see takes the rainbow symbolism associated with the LGBT community and combines it with Hopkins-specific imagery. In this case, the logo evokes the wing of a Blue Jay, the school’s mascot, without being too overt. It is crisp and fun, and personal to the group.

The color scheme draws inspiration from JHU’s Office of LGBTQ Life, bringing the relationship of the two groups more defined. The logo can stand on its own, but also fit within a broader framework.

The logo can be scaled up or down to suit the variety of needs of the group. It will soon appear on shirts, stickers, posters, social media, etc.

Additionally, I created alternative dynamic logos, which can be used to promote identity specific events. The wing shape of the logo remains the same, while the colors can be changed to reflect specific identities within the LGBT community.

Below are examples of the logo with Bisexual pride and Trans pride colors.
